Last day of the year 2008

Here is what I've done so far --

* Long swing (100)
* Fine print reading - loads of it - I read Jun, July and August 1920 editions of Bates Magazine.
BTW I noticed that I printing the magazines in font - Luicida console at 3 point size is good for
fine print reading - I was using Times New Roman at point 4 earlier. And printing from Windows XP is more fine grained than printing from Ubuntu.. So Windows XP it is.
General note: My eyes feel better.. more watery for some reason but this feels good. Vision seems improved..
* Shoulder exercises - If you are wondering which shoulder exercises - these are from Harry Benjamin's excellent book - Better Eyesight. I bought this when I was in India.

* Swaying in front of eye chart (10 minutes) - I've noticed that when I sway, my forehead starts twitching.. probably that's a good sign? dont know yet..

I'm out of topics :) so just stuck today's day and date as the title..

Today's exercises --

* Long swing (115 full)
* Fine print reading - read Mar and Apr 1920 issues of Bates magazines.
* Shoulder exercises
* Sway - 7 minutes.

Today my vision is not that good... wonder why.. I guess it could be due to last night's ice cream - anything sugary makes my vision worse.

Today's exercises

BTW using the term 'exercises' for Bates method is kinda incorrect - it seems to imply that these are physical exercises whereas in reality they are mental. Doing the Bates exercises without involving the mind is futile.... Keep this in mind when doing the exercises (note to self).

* Long swing - 120 full. Long swing is a good starting exercise as it relaxes the whole body including the eyes. Once the body/eyes are relaxed, other exercises can be done more easily.
* Fine print reading. Got new material - I was searching for Bates Magazine - Better Eyesight - that he published from 1919 to 1930 - and they are available for free!! at www.central-fixation.com. Go to resoures section - you will also find bates original book as well as other good books + articles. Anyways - I read two complete magazines - Jan and Feb 1920 which I printed out in fine print (Times New Roman - 4 points type size).
In the Feb 1920 issue, there is an article that talks about halo's seen when reading fine print. These halo's are within the white part of the letters and when reading it we should actively pay attention to these halos - these will bring about a rapid cure it is said.
* Shoulder exercises.
* Swaying before eye chart - I find this very relaxing provided the mind imagines that the letters are moving in opposite direction to the body movement. Did this for 10 minutes.

The day after christmas

* Fine print reading - 8 pages from McCracken's book.
* Long swing - 120 full.
* Shoulder exercises
* Short swing before eye chart - 10 minutes - eyes felt very relaxed after this.

BTW I recently bought a JuiceMan Jr Juicer (very good quality) and have started drinking
this amazing juice - here are the contents -
* 4 carrots (high in Vitamin A)
* 1/2 a beet (beet is very potent - so half is good enough)
* 2 celery sticks (celery is high in Vitamin C)

It tastes awesome. I make this fresh from all organic veggies bought from Whole Foods and try to have it atleast 4 times a week.

I've been able to see pretty good out of my -9 contacts - so definitely my vision is improving.

Day 10

* Yoga Week 1.
* Fine print reading.

Had fish last night. Eyes are feeling much better this morning. Fish definitely is good for eyes.

I have also noticed something strange - after a lot of computer work, my right eye lid seems swollen - could it be that the right eye pressure is increasing and it is causing the eye to jutt forward? I should mention this to my doctor when I see him next.

Right now both eyes are looking normal. I know it the the freaking COMPUTER that is damaging my eyes - wish I can give it up forever...

Can this be a reason my eyes feel better today? Only time will tell...

Day 9 - Wednesday

* Week 1 Yoga
* Swinging for 15 minutes.
* 3 mile walk - 45 minutes. Again I felt that walk was definitely helpful in reducing the strain in my eyes.

Day 8 - Tuesday

* Did swinging by window for around 10 minutes.
* Started with Yoga - Week 1 From BKS Iyengar's book.

Eyes felt jammed the whole day - I am sure my eye pressure was up (even though I cannot measure it).

* Did a 45 minutes walk in the evening. This gradually got rid of my eyes feeling jammed and I could actually make out the difference. My eyes felt so much better... I was able to work/read well in the night. This morning too they feel good. I hope this continues...

So walking is definitely good for health - and especially for people who have glaucoma/ocular hypertension.

Day 7 - Monday

Did my usual dose of swinging by the window and fine print reading. Was a good day - eyes felt better the whole day.

Day 4, 5 and 6

Didn't do much.. Walked a lot in NYC on Sunday so that we inturn good for the eyes.

Day 2

Morning -

* Started reading McCracken's Book - Use your own eyes - in fine print.
Read a few pages of this book.
* Short swing - 13 minutes. Result -- Eyes felt relaxed today. Didn't get the same feeling yesterday.

Evening --

* Walked/jogged for 30 minutes.

Sesame Oil Head Massage

Did a sesame oil head massage today - felt very sleepy right after that. Slept like a baby at night (i always get a good sleep - dont know why :)).

Start of a new beginning (Take 2)

Its obvious that I haven't been following the Bates Method. I am gonna give it a new start.. From today -

Here is what I've done today --

* Sunning - Standing in the sun, looking at the sun with eyes closed/open. - 10 minutes.
* Short Swing before the Window. - 10 minutes.
